Why Attica?

Ask any one of our residents about living in the Town of Attica and you will hear the same thing over and over again: Attica is a great place to live and raise a family.  Ask them why and you will hear many different reasons; reasons that blend together to paint a beautiful picture of a small All-American town.
Where would one begin in describing all the benefits of life in Attica?  Maybe they would tell you about our magnificent school system.  The Attica Central School District is renowned for its “Grade A” academics and is found time and time again at the top of the charts for standardized test scores.  ACS also has great success on the athletic fields and the countless Sectional Championship banners hanging from the gymnasium’s walls are a testament to this fact.  Our state of the art music rooms and auditorium have paved the way for the success of Attica’s Mighty Marching Blue Devils.  Referred to as “The Pride of Attica”, the Mighty Marching Blue Devils have taken part in prestigious events on a national scale which include the Rose Bowl Parade in Pasadena, the Citrus Bowl Parade in Orlando and the Orange Bowl Parade in Miami, to name a few.  The Band has also been appointed by the Buffalo Bills to provide the pre-game entertainment for its home games in the 2007 season.
Maybe you aren’t a big fan of living in a rural area such as Attica and would prefer being “closer to it all”.  Attica is located right between Rochester and Buffalo and is only an eleven minute drive from the thruway.  Such a location provides the safety and coziness of a small town, without giving up the benefits of living in a city.  The town is also only a half hour drive from Letchworth State Park.
Attica is also lauded for the annual Attica Rodeo.   The largest Rodeo this side of the Mississippi River, the Attica Rodeo has been voted #1 by the Cowboys and Cowgirls of the American Professional Rodeo Association.

In addition to the aforementioned statements, Attica has one of the lowest town tax rates in all of Wyoming County.
When many people think Attica, the Correctional Facility is what immediately comes to mind.  In fact, Attica is home to two correctional facilities; Attica Correctional Facility and Wyoming Correctional Facility.  While one may be wary of living so close to a maximum security prison, there is really no threat.  Ask any resident if they worry about the Correctional Facility and you will hear a resounding “No.”  The Attica Correctional Facility has been around since the 1930s and in all that time only one inmate has ever escaped out of the prison’s walls.  This is a testament to the prison’s first-rate security and epitomizes the safety of the town as a whole.
Speaking of safety, Attica is home to extremely low crime rates, a top-notch volunteer fire department and first-class emergency services.  The Village of Attica is also home to some of the finest, safest water in Western New York.  Attica is truly an incredibly safe town in which one can feel comfortable raising a family.
We truly believe there is no better place than Attica for one looking to settle down and raise a family.  We encourage you to browse through our photo gallery, speak with town residents and most importantly, pay us a visit in order to get better acquainted with the Town of Attica.  We are sure you will not regret it.
